I'm a very, very cynical person. One time while at my old job, my roomate (we worked at the same place) developed the "cynicism bell" which was a standard desk bell that he would (and still does 2 years later) ring when I made a cynical comment. I think the bell has worn out....

Are there any recovering cynics out there? Do I need an intervention? Drugs?

My wish is to one day be able to look at Family Circus or an old woman's picture of her dog, her only friend in the world, and not say or do something cynical.

Folks, I need your help
Chris

every time you think you want to say something cynical or sarcastic... just don't. the urge will go away, and you'll start to think people who say what you would have said a couple of years ago are idiots :)

Why are you so cynical?

That's just the thing, I don't know.

I've had people attribute it to things from job dissatisfaction and lack of exercise to sexual frustration.

Whatever it is, I need to find out.

For all you who are cynical, was/is one of your parents very critical of things and people?

Heheheh. Kind of my thoughts too.

I may be a pessimist, but at least I'm not shattered when when something doesn't come true :)

I'm cynical and my dad was very critical of everything (mostly of his kids).

Just be happy with the way you are.

Being cynical keeps you from buying the sh|t advertised on Info-mercials. ;)

Family Circus should be ridiculed. This does not make you cynical... it makes you human.

It's very difficult to change who are you.

It's better to like who you are and become better at being that person.

Why change? It won't last anyway. You'll just go back to the same old b.s. anyway.

(Cynicism is my middle name)

Family Circus sucks no matter what.

Or, we could all just pretend we live simple sheltered lives in the 50s: "Gosh Mom, that flower sure smells pretty! Can I have some milk and a jelly sandwich now?" <--sarcasm, heh
