I need help in getting my dvd shredder to work

It is a Primera ds-360 cd/DVD shredder.
I took it apart and cleaned it out, it was stuffed full of shredded DVDs. I used a needle nose pliers and pulled the debris out of it, put it back together and the green light still won't come on.
Does anyone have any experience fixing these? I am thinking of taking it to my local radio shack and seeing if they can help. Do you think that there might be someone there that would know about it and be willing to do it?
A long time ago the green light went out and wouldn't come back on then about a year later I tried it again and it came on and the unit worked ok, it makes me wonder if it is a capacitor that needs discharging.
I have a lot of credit/banking and old backups that I really need to get rid of.
Thanks

Try a different power supply? Bad/busted/corroded wiring? The light coming on probably has nothing to do with the blades - although good on you for cleaning those out.

If they're disks you burned yourself, microwaving them will kill 'em pretty quick.
