I need help hanging up a mirror on the wall.

The mirror is kinda heavy and i don't know how do you determine which part of the wall is the wood so i can put a nail into.

I don't wanna put a nail through the soft part you know. how do you determine whether the area is the wood frame or it's just hollow

Buy a stud finder. They cost about $10.

The wall is going to be covered by the mirror, right? Hammer in nails/screw in screws in random spots. If the nail goes in too easily, or the screw keeps turning when it goes in all the way, the stud isn't in that spot.

Once you find that spot, the stud is at that spot and can be used to anchor the mirror at any point vertically above or below it. Also, the studs should be 16" apart, center to center (I think.)

hey, i work in a frame store and we do this alot. They sell this black glue stuff that you spread on the back of the mirror. It is very strong, and will do the job, If not, make sure you have mirror hangers (2 seperate hooks on the back, not just a wire) and nail em into the wall.

knock on the wall in different places and when it sounds solid thats where the stud is....

if not then keep trying until you find it or your house collapses.

Throw someone through the wall Matrix style and if they go through then the stud isnt there. Keep doing this until they dont go through and break their spine.

1) This will work, assuming the mirror is atelast 16" wide. If not, grab a stud finder.

2) If it's small enough, you could just put a drywall screw into the wall anywhere. They can easily anchor a 5 pound mirror. I do it all the time.

3) If it's heavier, you can alwys put a screw into the area where hte wall and ceiling meet. That will have a horizontal piece of wood from the houses fram there. You'll know if you hit the wood. Trust me. Then just drop a string(fishing line would work) from the ceiling.

5) Duct Tape (yet another use)
