I need help from a osx programmer or someone with huge osx balls

Where would I find this driver file? My software dropped support for a hardware interface I use and so they remove the driver in the next update. I'm thinking if I can find this driver file I can drop it back in place and all will work still.

Thanks!

Hey Stiganator,

Thanks for the help. Your right it is a intel nic card in the computer but it is a pci->to pci-e rack adapter that uses the ethernet. So I don't see the kext there. I was just wondering if there was a way to see where this driver is located that it sees. When I do the update this page is the same but it says no driver. I'm thinking the driver might be embedded in the program contents.

ok this is the report. I think its all the 6311ESB stuff specifically the PCI Express to PCI-X Bridge. I guess I don't understand what I'm looking at. How do I get from here to getting the driver?

What does the Details button tell you?

Edit: I don't see the vendor ID of the Ethernet controller in your first post on that list.

hey virge,

Ok its a small window that pops up and all it says is

class: Bridge
subclass: PCI Bridge
Small System font text
Small System font text
Small System font text

Thats for the pci to pci-x bridge although I guess that might not be the correct item?

ok so the vendor id is 11af. Is there another way to search for that vendor id?

ok I looked up the vendor id

11AF Pro-Log Corp/AVID Technology Inc

That makes sense... but why so hidden?

ok guys I found 3 kexts that could be possibly what we need

digidal.kext
digidesignelevenrack.kext (doubtful)
DigiIO.kext

If I can figure this out it will save me around $3000 heheheh.

Those appear to all be digidesign kexts

If I show contents of digidal.kext I see 13 plist files!

info.plist
info5.plist
info8.plist
info25.plist
info40.plist
info60.plist
info90.plist
info115.plist
info180.plist
info225.plist
info300.plist
info450.plist

Cool, good word Jstorm.🙂

You've managed to hit on one of my few complaints about the platform: overall it's pretty damn hard to figure out what drivers/kexts a certain piece of hardware is using. So figuring out by hand can sometimes take a great deal of sleuthing.

Thanks 🙂 When money is on the line a little work isn't so hard hahaha.

So is it possible to edit into the kext the stuff I need out of this one? Or are these things blocked up pretty good. I'm worried about removing the newer kext file and replacing it with this one. It might not matter I guess but I think it points to 8.0.1 all over the place inside instead of the newer version 8.0.3 not supported by my expansion chassis. I guess I could just try it later on.
