Ok My boss uninstalled his sons Diablo 2 game. and his son got mad so now my boss wants to see if he can get the saved games back. I know some games don't uninstall the saved games file and some save them to the My Documents folder. Does any one know where Diablo 2 saves them and if they will be there after a uninstall?

Yup - this is where they are:

\<Path to Diablo 2 game>\saves

You usually have 4-5 files with <Character_name>. XXX, where XXX are various endings.

Example game files for character "sparkle":

sparkle.key
sparkle.d2s
sparkle.ma0
sparkle.ma1
sparkle.ma2
sparkle.ma3

Et voila 🙂.

Hope this helps 😀.

As shathal said but I think the folder name is actually save and not [/i]saves[/i].

When you uninstall Diablo it gives you the option of keeping the save files, if he specified that he didn't want to save the save files then I think he is SOL, otherwise they will be in that directory.

Good, glad you are sorted. I don't play Diablo II anymore but I've got my characters backed up in three different places - all that time I invested in those characteres...jeez...doesn't bear thinking about!
