[I realize this is not strictly a hardware thread, but I relates to RAM that a company sent to me.]

My story:
4 months ago I ordered 1 stick of 128 MB PC133 CAS-3 RAM. (it was 90 bucks then - not shipped). The company: http://www.asr-online.com sent me PC100 RAM. Me not paying attention - of course - did not notice that the RAM was only PC100 RAM. This didn't matter at the time because I was on a Celeron 300A overclocked to 450, so the RAM was only running at 100 mhz anyways. I specifically bought PC133 for a future upgrade (when RAM prices were good.) A week ago I bought a new processor. (Pentium 667 - runs at 133 mhz - I don't plan on overclocking it.) Anyways, I stick it in and try to boot - nothing. Only then do I notice that the RAM is PC100 - F!Ck! - I immediately try to call the company. They had their info listed as:

2955 Vineland Road
Kissimmee FL 34746
(888) 726-9277
(407) 787-0077

I called for an entire day whenever I had a chance - the phone was either always busy or no one ever answered - if this has ever happened to you, you know freaking annoying it is. I figured I wasn't going to get through on the phone so I sent an e-mail:

Hello,
3/1/00 I ordered 1 stick of 128MB PC133 SDRAM (item code: PC128GN). Today, when I tried running my computer at 133 mhz (front side bus - the speed of the RAM), my system would not boot. It is only now that I notice that the RAM you sent me isn't PC133 (like you billed me), it is PC100 RAM. The RAM also appears to have been damaged by attempting to run at 133mhz. At the time 128MB of PC133 RAM cost $89.95 and I paid $18.95 for shipping and handling. I assume that you will send me my correct order at no extra charge. I will then return the incorrect item you sent me. I have spent the last 3 hours trying to reach your company by telephone, but there seems to be a problem with that. When your toll free number and long distance number aren't busy, no one answers. Please let me know when a could time to call would be. Or please call me at ***-***-****. Thank You.

Of course I have had no response. Now the interesting part: I went back to the website again a few days later to look for more info - the site was completely different. It looked like a makeshift online store which was only half up. The site now seems to call itself "AC Micro". I returned to the site a day later (today) and they actually have some contact information listed - no phone # yet though.

AC Micro
8902 Rhode Island Ave.
College Park, MD 20740

So now the company seems to have changed names and moved from Florida to Maryland - All while keeping the same web address. Note: both companies use Yahoo! Shopping as their secure site for ordering. Neither was listed in the local phone book. I tried information. I tried sending emails to various names @asr-online.com 5 minutes ago, all of them were returned. I also sent Yahoo! Shopping a complaint - yeah, I know, odds of this doing anything are slim to nill, but I am desperate.

I want the RAM I ordered - I do not feel like paying for the RAM over again - ESPECIALLY since RAM prices are now about 50% more. I obviously made a stupid mistake by not using a reputable online store and by not making sure they sent me the correct product. (They still billed me for PC133 RAM, too, so just by glancing over the receipt, it looked like I had the right stuff).

Does anyone have any suggestions? Any help would be most welcome. Thanks a lot.

If you paid by credit card, I suggest you contact the credit card company. They can help you get this straightened out, the only snag could be that you have waited too long to complain.
I had a problem with a Yahoo site store too. Couldn't get any response to my e-mails. After following the credit card company's instructions I received a credit to my account from the store (never did hear anything from them though).

It's worth a try.:)
