Gotcha, ok well in the interest of good sound and safety, i'm gonna go for the the regulated 24v jameco model... Now; is this the correct stuff I need?

Jameco 24v Regulated 500mA Power Supply
Specs: * Input voltage: 120VAC@60Hz
* Output voltage: 24VDC
* Output current: 500mA
* Output plug: 2.5mmID x 5.5mmOD female center positive (regulated)
* Dimensions: 3.35"H x 2.68"W x 2.16"D
* Case color: black
* DC cord length: 6'
* Weight: 1.3 lbs.

and the tip that everyone used from radioshack is the 'H' tip - LINK to Ratshack
Specs: Adaptaplug H, O.D.: 3.4mm. I.D.: 1.3mm

So rather than the radioshack $10 one, could i get this Jameco one? - LINK to Jameco Tip
Specs: PLUG,DC,PWR,FEM,1.3mmX3.5m
9.6mm SHAFT X 4.8mm STN RELIEF

Total would be $15 before shipping - seems like a good price

1. Are those the correct items? (the two jameco's - ratshack just for plug size info)
2. Is there anything else i will need to connect them?

You plan to cut off the original end and solder that on? If yes, the jameco connector would be OK. Myself, I'd make or buy an adapter rather than cut in case of warranty or DOA issues. The male inline jack you'd need is this: Jameco part # 159506 . Just wire that to the female you list above (71192) to this male and you have an adapter, so no damage to the power wart.
