Well it finally happened, my tv has died after 9 long years of its existance. Now I need to get a new one. The two that I am deciding between are the Panasonic 27" Tau flatscreen CT27SX11, and the Sony 27" FD Trinitron Wega TV KV27FS13. I really need help with this, because I have no idea which is good and which is bad, and those are the only two options.

I think my parents bought a 35 or 37" Sony Trinitron a few months ago and its an awesome TV. I'd recommend the Sony but don't know the real technical adv. and disadvantages of each.

my uncle was actually deciding between those 2 TV's a couple months ago. I convinced him to go with the WEGA and he was NOT disappointed. I've seen that puppy in action and i REALLY like it

they're both excellent TV's, but i prefer the sony

Those are both great TV's. I just got a 32" WEGA myself, and love it. The Tau would have been my second choice, but the Sony was on sale that week.

The only advice that I can add is:

Think about picking up a slightly bigger TV if you can afford it and have room for it. 27 inch is a bit small, and it's a lot easier to read text on a bigger screen.

Tell the salesman to stick his "Monster Cables" and his extended warranty where the sun doesn't shine :) Unless you have a 50" HDTV, these add-ons aren't worth the added costs.

The only problem is that there is only 27 inches of space to put it in, so that is the size I am stuck with. Is there any noticable differences between the sony and the panasonic?
