I'm trying to enable SMAA in all games in Radeon Pro so I don't have to add all my games one by one. When I add the games individually it's easy to select the SMAA and set it to "medium" or "high" or whatever. When I try to do it universally, it's greyed out and I can't select it unless I move the AA slider. Is the trick to move the AA slider and then do it? Will this give me SMAA though or will it be MSAA?

TIA

Sickbeast, are you sure you aren't confusing the terminology with EQAA? And as far as I can recall, EQAA can be enabled in the standard Catalyst Control Center software; there's no need for Radeon Pro.

I'm pretty sure that SMAA is different from both EQAA and FXAA. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. HardOCP did a really good article on SMAA and I tried it and I was blown away by both the quality and the minimum performance hit. You don't choose 2X or 4X like you normally would in CCC. You chose "low", "medium", "high", or "ultra". "medium" is basically free AA that looks as good or better than 4xMSAA.

Ahh okay, SMAA. That's very different.:p

So as far as I know SMAA cannot be done universally in Radeon Pro since it's not a Radeon driver feature. SMAA requires running an injector on each application to inject the SMAA library into the game. Which is why Radeon Pro needs to create a profile for each and every game, for intercept purposes.

Ok thanks for that. It's a bit of a PITA then but worth it IMO.

beast, just make a profile for a game, you can enable it there. Japamd said he's getting rid of global settings on next release anyway, so it's all profiles and triggers.

I was able to stack mlaa, ultra fxaa & ultra smaa & sweetfx's smaa in borderlands 2, although it looks like crap. No jagged edges, just overdone and bordershader is too thick & text is shoddy looking.

Noticed your thread praising SMAA - yes it's the best. Now you just need Downsampling + SweetFX & RadeonPros forced HBAO. SweetFX without RadPro has SMAA injected (FXAA too if you want) + 10 other optimized shaders like Luma Sharpening, HDR, Vibrance, Dithering & Bloom

Run your game at 3860x2160 or 2730x1520 squeezed into a 1080P display and scaled with a custom SweetFX SMAA Profile using sweetfxsettings.txt (not RadPro) and it'll look amazing. You're probably going to have to use 12.11 catalyst to create a downsampled resolution & no higher than 13.3 catalyst to keep the downsampled resolution, but it's worth it. Thats how all the screenshot gurus @ guru3d forums take their precious screenshots, and if you have enough gpu it's a playable setting too.

Thanks very much for that, Tempered81. Are you still gaming on a 7970? I have one on the way. :)

3 7950. 4th 7950 caught fire. Wouldn't mind a 7970 or 780/titan tho. Sometimes SMAA won't work when MSAA is on. Different games have different results

Here's some Downsample/SweetFX/SMAA screenshots from Guru3d's forums (http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=376759&page=66)

It caught on fire? Were you mining bitcoins in quadfire? Was the rest of your rig ok?

Thanks again for your input in this thread. The screenshots you posted are incredible.
