Plenty of benefits, PLUS it's will be available in single and dual cores. I'd expect this thing to give a G5 a serious run for the money while using much less power.

Totally right about that, but those parts aren't even going to be sampling until the end of the year, so they wouldn't appear in any PowerBooks until mid-2006 at the earliest.

You may regret buying a XPS laptop unless you play games on it everyday. I am in college too, and I know a friend that use his XPS on his lap in class, he would complain everytime how heavy it is after an hour or so.

By the way, a dothan is still a Petinum M or Centrino but it has 2mb cache

First off, a Centrino is not a processor; it is a "technology" that bundles wireless with a high battery life CPU.

Dothan is the new Pentium M core, just like Prescott is the new p4 core.

Next, in your initial post you said, ?I already have a good gaming desktop" and that the new laptop would only be used for, "typing college papers, Photoshop and flash videos". Why then are you so hell bent on getting a XPS? They are big, heavy, and don't have a lot of battery life. It is a DTR notebook (desk top replacement), and if I understand your post, you are still taking your desktop to school for games, so why the gaming laptop?

Just confused here....
