Basically I know what the differences are between the cpus, and the only reason I'm worried about getting the prescott is the heat thing everyone keeps talking about. I would be replacing the 2.4C in my main system under my rigs page in my sig. Is that cooling enough? (Vantec Aeroflow) Also how much heat does it really kick out at 3.5 ghz... and what kind of voltage do you usually need? (i heard it's relatively easy to hit 3.5)

If the 2.8C is more likely to hit 3.5ghz area, I'll buy it instead, especially if you guys tell me this thing really does run too hot :)

The ram I have doesn't like to do much in the way of fsb overclocking at low timings or even high timings so i want to hit the 250mhz fsb to use the 5:4 divider and have full 400mhz speed ram.

Anything you guys can suggest would be greatly appreciated, TIA :)

basically for me it came down to deciding if sse3 was gonna be a big selling point

the first retail 2.8e i got was DOA so i had to return it to newegg
the second 2.8e oem i got was alright
but yeah they run very hot

chances are no matter what kinda air cooling you use temps will hover over 50c

once you get the voltage up to 1.5v temps start to break 70c (atleast in my experience) and your overclock essentially stops (3.2gh to 3.4ghz)

basically my 3.2ghz P4e compairs to the performance of a 2.8 to 3ghz p4c
at 3.5ghz it performed like a 3.2ghz p4c or so but was running way too hot to be stable

if you have no problem with water cooling or don't mind really loud fans then get a presscot
sse3 might come into play in future software too

otherwise the northwood is basically still better

Hmm... maybe I should go for the 2.8C M0? They seem to be quite amazing overclockers. I have a TERRIBLE 2.4C... stepping 9, revision D1 the most i can get out of it is 2514 stable!!! :(

2.8C M0 Stepping. Prescott's are just too hot right now. Check my rig that runs low 40's under load.

Yeah, after reading tonnes of threads and reviews, etc. I've decided the 2.8C M0 is for me... hopefully i can hit 3600 :)
