I just recently bulit a new intel core 2 quad Computer and i have a BFG Geforece GTS 250 512MB Graphics Card. it costs me roughly 100$. i was surfing the forums and people say that ATI Radeon GPUs are better than Nvidia. Can anyone tell me what i can get with ATI for about 100-130$ thats better than the GPU i have already? Thank you.

That's not a bad card. It should preform well enough if your resolution is >1680x1050.

If you are really set on switching, this 4870 should be a little better then your GTS 250.

There isn't any need to get a new card, yours should be fine for the next year or 2 and then there will be plenty of reason to swap to something faster with DX11 support

Ha, not surprising coming from here. I'm usually one of those people too.

But a GTS 250 512MB is fast probably about as perfect match for 1440x900 as you can get. Sure a Radeon 4870 is generally a little bit faster, but it would be absolutely ludicrous to upgrade from a 250 to a 4870.

For a $100 that's a good deal. You won't get anything better without spending more money, and if you were to spend less money you would only get something as good or worse.

GTS 250 with 512MB should be fine at that low res. Of course, we don't know what sort of apps/games you are running, so we're only guessing how hard the graphics system is going to be stressed.
