I am in need of a new monitor, and to me this seemed like an excellent deal. I, however, do not know a whole lot about monitors and don't want to make a bad decision. What I need to know is this; how is this widescreen resolution compared to, say a 1280x1024? I've heard that some games don't support certain widecreen resolutions, do they support this one?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Any other suggestions, in the $200 price range, would also be helpful.

Pretty much the best 20.1in monitor is the NEC. But thats also $600+.

and Read the sticky (if you haven't already) :)

I assume you want something closer to the price point of the sceptre?

Probably, it's a TN panel (meaning low viewing angles, etc...). Now this probably doesn't matter, but to me TN just doesn't cut it.
Thats why there cheap, TN panels are cheap to make.

The Dell 2007wfp is a good, relatively cheap (compared to NEC, and cross your fingers you get a S-IPS panel), 20.1in monitor.
Although it's out of your pricerange, it's a good deal.

Most (if not all) 20.1in monitors run on a 1680x1050 res.
Most of the time it's not a problem. The game will either support it natively or you'll have to do a little modifying to get it to work.
Thats what the WSGF (wide screen gaming forum) is for:

Just click the little games tab on the top bar and you'll get a list of games and how to make it work in widescreen. Most games, your able too.
Pretty much all TN panels are the same so I'd say go for it. It's pretty cheap (199 after MIR, can't beat that :))

But if your looking for a better panel (and thus a better monitor, like better colors, etc..) then you'll have to spend a little more money.
But it depends on what you do with it. If your just game, TN panel will be fine.

Yeah, I think I definately am going to go with this monitor. I'm not too worried about viewing angles, or the TN panel, I just wanted a bigger moniter that has good response times for midrange gaming, and I think this one will do the trick. Thanks for the help though, I just was making sure I wasn't going to get ripped off.
