Can anyone tell me which motherboard i should buy and why.... the abit bg7, asus p4b533-v, or epox 4g4a+. I plan on using a intel p4 2.26(533fsb) cpu. I don't know much about all of this overclocking stuff and don't really know how to do it or if that's what I want to do at all.

I have a couple more questions:
- DDR memory...should i use pc3200 or PC 2700 (motherboard recommends 2100)?
- any recommendations on what brand of memory i should use: Samsung, OCsystem, Xtreme, etc?
- one more question about power supplies...would a 350w supply be enough to run this system or would i need more?

thanks

Whether or not you want to jump into overclocking is going to directly affect your choices. Overclocking CAN save you money and there's lots of great info in these forums to help you out. You should really decide on that before you ask those questions.

My OPINIONS:

If you don't want to overclock:

If you have the money, the 2.2 paired with those boards are good choices (I would get the Asus board, but that's just me, they're all good). If you don't, you might want to look an AMD setup (I don't know too much about that side of the house, but there's lot's of people here who do).

Boards with the 845G chipset support PC 2700, the general recommendation is true Samsung PC2700 (Neweegg has it), Corsair is also pretty good.

As long as you don't go crazy with fans, drives, mods, etc, I THINK a 350W should be sufficient.

If you do want to overclock:

Get a P4 1.6A and one of the 845E/G chipset boards.

Get Samsung true PC2700 or Corsair PC3200.

Get the biggest power supply you can afford.

These are my opinions, hope it helps............🙂

If you run a Intel setup look at the AV45GT2 board
If you want to run a AMD setup look at the AK35GT2

Newegg has both of these boards, and both take DDR and will do everthing you want and they come with a 5.1 C-Media sound card. Good sound for free
