I recently purchased a 250MB USB Zip drive to use on my Desktop and laptop computers. Like a dumbass, prior to connecting the Zip drive to my desktop machine I followed the instructions and installed the iomegaware software that came with my drive. I have since found out that was mistake #1 since there is no support for Windows XP in the version of the software that came with my drive...so I decided that I would download the latest and greatest version from the iomega site. After installing that (mistake #2) my machine hangs up and will not boot past the Windows XP Pro start up screen.....OK so I press the reset button on my computer and I get the old "Please revert to the last know good configuration" prompt, which I do....I get an error message after the "New Hardware found" prompt that says that the drivers for my device were not loaded. So I perform a system restore to a point from a couple of days prior to any installation of any iomega software or hardware.

Anyhow I cannot get this damn thing to work at all! Anyone had any problems or anything similar?

Hmmm, my USB 100MB Zip works fine in Win XP and in Win2000 with native OS built in drivers (no IOMEGA software/drivers loaded). It should be simple plug and play. Make sure all remnants of the Iomega drivers and software you loaded is gone. Do all your other USB devices work properly?

Thanks for the reply...yes everything else works great! I think that it is an issue with the motherboard at this point. I have gotten the drive to work on my lappy and on my friends machine both running XP. My motherboard is an Asus P4S533....
