Like I always say I have pretty bad luck. Well I decide to upgrade and get my case first from directron.com It is in shambles. What should I do? It is obvious UPS beat it up as well, 2 huge gashes.

Well, I am a little more calm now. UPS was really helpful on the phone and they are going to pay for it. If all goes well I can salvage the 400w PSU out of it which would be nice.

So, were you able to salvage the 400 watt PSU? Just wondering. Not bad response time from UPS if you ask me.

Well, I don't think I can salvage the 400w PSU. UPS is picking up the case this morning and since they will probably be paying for it, they will keep everything. Oh well, at least they are being helpful.

Was the box all beaten up? If so you should have never signed for it in the first place.

Sign for it? UPS ring's my door bell and runs. I've never signed for a package, ever, quite often I never even see them come, I just find packages on my doorstep :disgust:

scribble "unchecked" or "unexamined" every time they want you to sign for something, unless youre actually going to make the postie wait while you unpack it and examine - when you sign for something, it says not only that youve received it, but that its in ok condition. To their credit, its only because they know customer serive is important and because everyone knows full well practically nobody actually does so much as look at the box before signing that they take responsibility after youve signed for it, in theory they dont have to.

That sounds like a great idea.

After having UPS leave a package containing my 512MB compact flash memory in the rain, I called and raised holy hell to the main office and they made it so that they are not allowed to leave anything at my place. What's worse, is the driver had signed *my* name and I knew bloody well I wasn't home at that time.

Made me really nervous when I knew I was buying a 21" Sony FD display. Plus my neighborhood isn't the best neighborhood. A big Sony box sitting on the porch wouldn't last long. Not to mention the summer heat.

I now have to pick up most items from the UPS place but that's okay.

Thankfully, directron is across town for me to drive and pick it up. :)

The last case I received from Directron came destroyed as well via the United States Pose Office (not surpised since they can destroy anything). Directron immediately sent me all the broken plastic parts and the power and reset switches that were broken. If I had sent it back from Germany (APO) it would have costs a forturne and not been worth the money, so I was pleased with Directron's actions on my problem.

i've had 3 orders from newegg.com recently, all sent fedex, all required my signature (but fedex has always required my signiture), and all recieved before noon. my case came with a gash on the box, but the actual case was not damaged, but the delivery women gave me a forum to fill out if damaged and explained what would be done if package was damaged, very nice. oh, and fedex always delivers before noon here, UPS is post 5pm has always done the drop and dash as does USPS. :disgust: i like fedex, will always ship fedex if possible.

p.s. always nice having the door bell waking you up, knowing a new toy is here to play with all day. :D

No, I have not contacted Directron yet. Not sure if I need to. UPS didn't show up until 5:15 last Friday and I was already gone. They are coming again today, I confirmed that.

My parents work nearby at local businesses, so I often have really important packages (concert tickets, computer parts above $150, etc) delivered to them at their office. If you have a trusted friend nearby who works at home or works in a friendly office, ask them if they'll receive a package for you.

It is coming to my place of business today and I plan on staying here until 5:30 if I have to so I can build my new PC. I have all the stuff laid out with no case to put it in...

the problem is, so many websites will only ship to the billing address. Prevent people from stealing credit card numbers and having the goods shipped elsewhere but means I cannot have my friend and neighbor's wife sign for packages for me.

I've run into that problem too with smaller dealers, but with certain credit cards you can call the credit card company up and give them an alternate address. I have a fleet visa bank card, and the customer service rep said they had a comments box where they could fit in one additional shipping address.

UPS picked up the package just now and just left me a copy of the sticker of where they are shipping it back. So, now I am on the phone with directron.com and on hold waiting for the manager. They said I had to fill out a damage report with them. I am going to call AMEX first though. Directron just saw there last order from me probably.

When I got a damaged case via UPS, I called UPS direct and they told me to hold the thing for 10 days, which I did. They refunded the shipper, who then refunded me for the case, and I got to keep the PS and any other good parts.

I'm guessing UPS uses some kind of property insurance to refund you, and with property insurance, the insurer basically promises to buy the item from you at whatever it was worth, provided it meets certain conditions (such as getting damaged as a result of a UPS action, like they dropped it or left it in the rain.)
