there's a group insurance offered at work, but i wasn't impressed by the coverage/cost. i'm 22 and in above average physical condition. i have no diagnosed diseases/illnesses. however, i would still like fairly comprehensive coverage. who offers good coverage @ good prices?!?!

Group rates are usually going to be lower than an individual policy.
Look into a supplimental policy on your own if you don't like what your work has to offer.

well, the problem w/ the group insurance at work is that most of the people are 45 and over. i'm not entirely sure, but i feel as if this is a somewhat unfavorable situation.

Or Scandinavia - then you'd get the advantage of tall-statuesque blondes.

Hey! There are lumberjacks in Canada! Some of them women are good looking too...with their facial hair and all. :Q

I can't imagine an individual plan is cheaper, or even comparable to the price of an employer's group plan. My last job cost me about $10 a month for an HMO. In the month i didn't have converage from that job to this job, it would have cost me over $500 for that one month of coverage.

Ummm... no one😛

You'll never find insurance cheaper than what you can get through your employer. You screwed up if you just missed your annual open enrollment.

You can get catastrophic coverage ($1k deductible) fairly cheap, from what I hear. It won't cover things like routine dr.'s visits, but you'll only have a grand out in the case of an emergency.

saved me $600 in college per year cause my college plan was an absolute rip off.
got a plan practically identical for lets say... a lot cheaper!

After I turned 21 I was no longer under my father's plan, so I went with Humana. Ended up being like $85 a month. I forgot the exact terms but for someone in above average physical condition myself, it worked perfectly.

in terms of?

like any insurance (car, home, etc) you will be paying for the risks of other individuals. yea, young guys like us have the lowest risks of getting heart disease/stroke compared to 40+ overweight males. but the whole concept of insurance is that if anything ever happens to you (or them), you will be covered. if nothing happens to you, well, you might feel as if you've wasted your money. lots of guys in our age range opt out of insurance unless you have some preexisting condition. more beer money
