Two Years Before the Mast - Richard Henry Dana, Jr.

I'm having trouble thinking of non-fiction.....

Zen and the art of________ that's gotta be 50+ books to choose from 🙂

what kind of non fiction? i mean i can recommend tons of true crime. Angela's Ashes is a GREAT read. (author is Frank McCourt btw)
Tom Brokaw - The Greatest Generation Speaks

lemme know if you want true crime ones too...i've read quite a few good ones.

hmm, most of the non-fiction i read is christian spirituality but...

mere christianity - cs lewis great book that will make you think whether you agree with it or not

angelas ashes was pretty good for non-fiction, ill second it.

fever pitch - nick hornby great read if you like soccer at all

out of the blue - orel hershiser if you like baseball

hmm, this is sad. cant think of too many.

It really depends on your tastes, but:

war without mercy
the radicalism of the american revolution
from resistance to revolution
the right stuff
championship streetfighting: boxing as a martial art

If you want more ideas, or if you have a particular interest, pm me and i'll give you more suggestions. The first three are pretty heavy, the last two are light.

Wilderness At Dawn. Settling Of The North American Continent. amazing read with lots of Native American input.

"The Arms of Krupp", by William Manchester. Very interesting book about the Krupp dynasty and their role in Germany's history and wars. Not a short read though as it's several hundred pages.

What about "Dianetics"? Oh, wait... that's fiction.

How about "The Dirt: Confessions of the World's Most Notorious Rock Band", an autobiography of heavy-metal band Motley Crue?

Tao of Jeet Kune Do by: Bruce Lee
We Were Soldiers Once..and Young (not sure the author, find at a Walmart)
Stick Figure (crazy book about a kid of 11 years that was anorexic) at Walmart too. Sorry, no author for this one either.

Three from me!

another vote for Malcolm X. Great book, but might be a little long for what you are looking for.

Black Like Me - John Howard Griffin (Excellent Book, good for a report, it is short and very easy to write about)
The Path to Freedom - Michael Collins, Tim Pat Coogan (A little Irish history about a great man who changed Ireland)
Deranged: The Shocking True Story of America's Most Fiendish Killer - Harold Schechter (Serial Killer biography about Albert Fish, sometimes referred to as America's first serial killer)
The Hot House: Life Inside Leavenworth Prison - Pete Earley (Title says it all)
Why they Kill - Richard Rhodes (Great book, deals more with psychology and sociology. A deep read and a little more difficult than most)
May God Have Mercy: A True Story of Crime and Punishment - John C. Tucker (one of the best books i have ever read, deals with a man wrongly accused and sentanced to Death Row)

can't think of anymore at the time, i'm at work so i don't have them in front of me. hope this helps
