Right now im using a 5.1 speaker setup but don't really like it. I'm looking for maybe some headphones that have a pretty long chord or are wireless that would be average for basic gaming. I'd probably be wearing them with 1 ear piece off. Any suggestions?

Is the 1 ear piece off so you can hear what's going on around you?

Open headphones allow you to hear what's going on around you so you're not totally isolated.

Headfi.org is a great place to look for headphone information.

In general you'll get much higher sound quality going with headphones vs. speakers of a similar budget. Is this just for gaming, or will there be music involved as well?

Gaming mostly. I do listen to music on my comp, but i'd just use my speakers for that. And yes, 1 headphone is off so I can hear my girlfriend yappin. 😛 Occasionally I'd use em both on.

I was wanting a long wire or wireless cause I'd wanna wear em while falling asleep. I'd take em off right before passing out.

I used to own Sennheiser RS110 (?), and they sounded ok for very basic computer needs, but they were kind of loose on my head and woud feel like they were going to fall off every time I leaned forward.

I agree with YoYo about going wired. Presumably there would be extra latency with the wireless headphones, and that might not be a good thing if you're a gamer.

I see Audio Technica A500 and A900 recommended for gamers and light music by many, and they even work well without an headphone amplifier.
