I'm having gifter's block with my mom, sister, and possibly have something too big for my niece.

I've got my mom some good chocolate and a puzzle so far. ($15)

I got my sister a Nest Home Mini ($20) and a novelty calendar so far. ($10)

What are some good mom (69 years old) and sister (42 years old) gifts? I can't go with back massagers or cookware type stuff....it's been overdone in years past. That's part of the problem...trying to come up with new gifts that haven't been done in the past 10 years. =P

My niece is 18 and starting college. I was going to give her a Fortnite Edition Nintendo Switch. (I snagged one and don't want my kids playing Fortnite because they're 8 and under. The branded console would encourage it, so I got them the Animal Crossing version)

Is the Switch too much of a gamble @ $330? My wife thinks the Switch isn't good for an 18 year old and that she's too old for it, but I don't think that's the case at all. I could return it and get $330 back from Best Buy or sell it on Facebook Marketplace and get something else. I'm just not sure if it's appropriate and am reluctant to ask my sister what she thinks. The reason I think she'd like it is for portability at college and her dad passed away 4 years ago...so she's not gotten too many big gifts since then.

Any gift ideas or suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I've been giving my mother 52 $10 bills the last few years. That's a bouquet of flowers from the grocery store every week. She seems to like it.

Give them Highland's number and tell them you opened an account for them so they could get just what they want.

I am in the same boat with my mom. She is 76 years old and lives with my sister. She streams a lot of stuff so my sister got her a newer roku that's faster and has the earbuds that plug into the remote so she can watch later at night without jacking up the volume. Plus a radio - she doesn't like streaming on her phone for some reason. Two thoughtful gifts, now I'm stuck.

Not sure if your sister drives a lot, but I got my sister an eco-friendly klean kanteen thermal mug so when she takes the kids to school or does errands, she can always take her tea with her. Maybe your mom wants a faster streaming stick lol

Credit limit may be directly related to quality of pics.

Ma is 80 and already has a house full. Lxs' idea is a good one but I would need to buy them. I already get her groceries so easy peasy.

Perhaps a spa day together for mom and sis.

Amazon dropped the price on Fire 10 tablets at $80, so I picked up one of those for my mom's Birthday in October and installed the Google Play Store for them so they could really use it. That was a hit with her and my dad. Both have been using it for Email and crossword puzzle cheating at the breakfast table. I'm going into Christmas with lots of points...I just want to get something.

I think they already have a roku box on one TV and the other is smart, so they don't need a streaming stick.

The mug sounds like a good idea. Normally, I'd be walking around all the stores and look for ideas of what I see and grab something. I'm just reluctant to go shopping around much these days. I may do it anyway tomorrow and see what I can come up with.

Nobody recommended the 50 gallon drum of lube yet? Wow... ATOT is slipping :)

I'll throw in a vote for a Day Spa gift card. Ladies like that stuff.

Build them an 8x or 6x RX5700XT mining rig. Explain that it's a magic box that "generates money out of thin air, through the magic of the internet". (And doubles as a space heater / "air purifier").

Or just get them some Bitcoin.

Edit: Just saw these 12X RX5700XT mining rigs, 665MH/sec on ETH, dual 1600W PSUs, quite the beefy rig.

Have to pay in crypto. (No affiliation, hope that it's not a scam. Price seems fair.)

Since the decent gag options are covered already - do they drink? Nice wine\liquor\beer can be a pretty easy gift if they do. Or DIY food\snack baskets. The spa idea was another good one but if they're not into that then maybe for an activity they would like? We've been trending towards consumables\experiences as friends get older and we all tend to have the stuff we need - or the stuff we want it outside the range of gift price ranges

We got "pics" covered pretty quickly so there's that.

Good call. I hadn't ever thought of liquor with them. They have both go e that route in the past with wine of the month memberships....but I could go south of the border with my mom and sister and by that, I mean buy them both some good tequila.

Ring Doorbell is good.
Nest Thermostat (or other varieties that run off Wifi) is another good one.

My mom moved, and thus I got to gift them again, hehe.

I bought my mom some cookware, but remembered I already gave her something like that a few years ago. It's a nice $50 thing, so I'm going to give it to my sister instead....along with another $50 worth of smaller things.

I've got my mom a few smaller gifts now and just have to come up with 1 decent gift for her. I feel like I've made progress since yesterday and I have a week and a half left. I thought about the Ring doorbell but technology gifts on my parents would be a bit of a waste. They don't live in a fancy enough or dangerous enough area to invest in security.

I may see if my wife can help me pick something out for her.

IDK, I think the Switch would be awesome. My 22 yr old step son and his gf have each been trying to find 1 since this whole pandemic began and couldn't get their hands on one so I'd probably do that.

A few years ago our whole family took a trip to Aulani. We had pictures done there by the resort and since then have been sitting on a CD. My folks moved to a new place over the summer so my wife and I had a collage made of some of the pics printed on canvas. We're going to give that to my parents(mom really) and they'll have something nice to hang up on the wall. My dad is usually good with some golf balls or a golf shirt, so he's easy.
