I have an offer from two companies. One is a large real estate company and they are offering me an accountant position for 48,000/year.

The other is a fortune 500 company offering me 50,000/year to be a financial analyst.

I have been working as an accountant for the last two years.
Which opportunity would be better career wise for me?
Is a financial analyst better than an accountant?

How many times are you going to ask about this?

Go where you are happier, or go where the best benefits are. Up to you.

I pretty much want to know if a financial analyst is a better position than accountant?

i think that you need to think a little longer term. That is, what will your next job be after this move and where do you want to go?

Accountants usually grow up and become Controllers (Chief Accounting Officers) in the corporate world. CPA designation is highly desirable, almost required in some industry. Lack of CPA will affect ability to be promoted/credibility.

FA's usually grow up to become CFO's, . CPA also desirable but not necessary. CFA will be needed if Ibanking, (buy and sell side), investor relations.

So, what do you want to be when you grow up?

I honestly don't know, I think it might be interesting to try something new though. Could I go back to being an accountant after a few years as a financial analyst if I don't like it as much?

You sound really young. Why not Google what these positions are and decide for yourself? How can an accountant who has been working for 2 years not have even the hint of what a financial analyst does?

I would say the financial analyst would be the better position. I don't have the specifics regarding the real estate job, but it seems as though it would just be a glorified bookkeeping position. With the fortune 500 company, I would bet that you would have more potential for growth than you would with the real estate company.

My opnion has nothing to do with the salary. I would still say go with the fortune 500 company even if the salary was $10K less.
