i need an opinion on this lcd

Well, it's 17". Nowadays, $278 seems quite a bit for a 17". In the past (like a few months ago), ~$300 was about the lowest price for a 17". But now, you can get a 17" for ~$180 at best, and a 19" for under $400. With the recent price drops, I'd say the value isn't all that.

it's got DVI & probably a 16ms panel...that's why it's ~$280. The price is average, but not a hot deal by any means.
 
The response rate is 25ms, not great. If you play games, you might want to try something else. It does have new features though. Pivot, swivel, tilt, 4usb ports. Kinda like the 2001FP, but smaller.

The contrast ratio is 1000, which is really high. I wonder if that is correct.

It does DVI, if your vid card has it.
 
I got mine for $245 + $20 tax 🙂. See if you can find a 25% Dellf LCD coupon and a $35 off $300 like I did.

I'm extremely satisfied with it and it does not come with the optiplex base. I have yet to test out DVI though and I see a little ghosting on the hardcore fps's (Counter-strike). The ghosting isn't that bad though. What's bad is that I have to run 1280x1024 on my wee little gf3 ti200 🙂.
