I need to build a couple of inexpensive systems and am looking for a motherboard to use. I found the Biostar M7VKQ for less than $50 with built in VGA, sound, and LAN. I'm thinking of going with this board and a Duron 900Mhz processor. Does anybody have any experience with this board? Any other board you would recommend? Thanks for the input.

I recently built a cheap system for my neighbor with the Biostar M7VIG, a 1.2 GHz Duron, and 256MB DDR RAM. So far the system works great and I really think that this was the best (& cheapest) solution for him (Internet surfing, office stuff).

(I know that this is a different board, just replied because nobody else did ;))

Thanks for the input, I appreciate it! I'll check out the board you mentioned. I know most of the people that use these forums don't get too interested unless the subject is an overclocked, smokin' kind of machine. I don't blame them, those toys are a lot more fun to play with and a lot more interesting! Sometimes some newbies are just looking for a starter system though, and it's almost as much fun to get them something solid to get started with. I know I've gotten a ton of information from these AnandTech boards, and it's great to be able to pass the info along. Thanks again.

ive built several systems on the Biostar M7VKQ and i didnt have any problems with them

i got them from newegg in the refurbished section for around $30 shipped :) i bought 7 of them and they all worked fine

the only thing i didnt like about them was that you couldnt change the amount of memory to be used for the onboard video (it uses 8mb)

I can't seem to find any refurbished motherboards at Newegg. Do they usually have some available?

I can't seem to find that model of ECS board to check out, either. I tried Newegg and Multiwave. Anybody have an idea where i might find it?

K7VZA is KT133A mobo. I have it for 1 year, no problems.
You can find it on pricewatch, but it is expensive there - about $70.
You can also try ebay, there must be people dumping them cheap because it is time to upgrade.
