Lately when I wake up my back is killing me for an hour or two, Im only 23 and this is a recent development, and i *think* I might know why.

For a couple of years Ive had a memory foam pillow, which I loved when I got it, but over the last few months Ive had trouble sleeping on it. I snagged a much softer pillow I had lying around but its too soft and I couldnt sleep well with that, either, after a few nights.

So I grabbed another pillow I had, which is one of those large body-length pillows, because its firmer than the soft pillow, but not as firm as the memory foam...and I sleep *much* better with it.

But my back has been killing me every morning and It's driving me nuts, and I was thinking this morning about what Ive done and how I was feeling better after being up for an hour or two, and all I can think of that Ive really changed is my pillow.

Ill try one of my other ones tonight and see how I feel in the morning, but in the mean time, has anyone got any suggestions? A friend I used to know said she had a latex pillow that was awesome, anyone used one of these? Are they expensive? Where can I check one out or get one?

I would think a bad pillow would cause you neck problems and not back issues. You sure it's not an issue with your mattress?

I plan on getting a Tempurpedic (sp?) pillow. From all the pillows I've seen this one owns the most. Also very comfy, ex GF had one.

This. How old, soft is your mattress? Box spring? Also, have you cut back on exercise this Winter? Walking does wonders for the back.

well i was kinda thinking the same thing, but my back has been fine until very recently.

yes, i usually do light jogging or a steady walk twice a week, and the last 3 weeks ive been sick or busy so i havent done any of that.

the mattress is a so-so box spring with a 2" memory foam topper. that could be it, but like i said, my back has only hurt over the last couple of weeks since i switched pillows so im sleeping better, but hurt, therefore im all

Ralph Lauren pillows from Macy's. 3 different densities for side/back/stomach sleepers and not very expensive at all.

Does 4 hours of sleep, waking up to pee, then going back to sleep for 4 more hours have the same recooperative (sp?) properties and 8 straight hours?

...kind of a thread hijack question
