I was thinking about getting an amd64, but I decided I will wait till the summer, so I just need to make some small upgrades for gaming till then. I am planning to buy an amd xp 2500+ and I want to be able to overclock it. I need a board that has sata. I was looking at the Asus a7n8x deluxe, seems to be a good board, any suggestions for others? Or recommendations to get that board?

Wow read some reviews for that and it looks pretty good. I think thats what I will be going with. Unless anyone can say anything that will make me choose another board over this one, I like the overclockability.

i'm going to cast a vote for the NF7 b/c of my personal experience with it. i'm not saying that the Ablatron isn't a nice board, but by no means does it smoke the NF7. the NF7 is still one of the most OCable AMD boards out there, and still maintains unrivaled stability.

this is not to say that you shouldn't look into the Albatron though...the best kind of advice you can get on these forums doesn't come from the people who just memorize technical specs and numbers, but rather from those who have had personal experience w/ the products you are interested in. and from what i've seen around the forums in the past weeks, DahDee is very happy w/ his Albatron.

the A7N8X rev2 by ASUS deserves an honorable mention as well...

Well said, Sunny 129. I am indeed very happy with my Albatron! Have had my 2500+ overclocked to 2.343 GHz 24/7 for over a month now without so much as a hiccup from the KX18D Pro II. Running cool at 30C idle, 45C load. Boots up fast, has been extremely stable. It's very strange how I keep seeing great reviews for this motherboard and yet it's not mentioned in discussions here of the best AMD boards. It is, in my opinion, based on my personal experience and the excellent reviews/specs I've seen, THE BEST AMD board. I'm really surprised more folks haven't tried it yet, especially given how cheap it is. Easily the best bang for the buck out there. For those of us with windowed cases, it's also worth noting that the KX18D Pro II is much (!) better looking than the Asus or Abit offerings.

yeah i don't like the rusty red/orange color of the IS7 and NF7 much, but they perform great. listen its kind of a toss up between these three brands. while Abit and ASUS have some tenure, it will only be a matter of time before Albatron builds an excellent reputation, as they're already well on their way. it was formed by some former Gigabyte people, so they know what they're doing...there's no doubt in that. eventually i'll have to try an Albatron board as well...

Careful, many people have been getting locked Bartons recently. You can still up the FSB to hit 3200+ speeds, but you won't be able to touch the multiplier. Just a heads-up.

Asus sux. Try the FIC AU13, a much better board, and it's only $80 at outpost.com/Fry's
