I need an adapter to install a laptop DVD drive into a desktop.

What do you call the type of adapter that connects a laptop dvd drive to a desktop mobo?

I have this pc case I bought that only takes a laptop optical drive. I just so happened to have an old laptop (Dell c600 something) with a DVD drive inside. I installed it into the case but the interface is weird. There's this tiny green adapter board with a 2" plug on one side and a 1" plug on the other. On it it says "DELL INTCON OMAHA 01609A" and on the other side it says "6870H-294AA". The side with the 1" plug goes into the back of the optical drive and the 2" side probably plugs into the laptop's motherboard. I need to make this drive work on a desktop motherboard which has 1 IDE and 4 SATA ports.

If I knew what to search for I suppose I'd find it, but I don't know what it is called and which to try to find... the 1" thereby bypassing the use of the provided adapter or using the 2" thereby using the little green adapter board.

Thanks in advance.

BTW, if you don't want to write the response, maybe you can just link to the needed item at newegg.
Thanks again.

I forgot to add that the case is obviously small and would prefer an SATA adapter if they exist for what is most probably an IDE optical drive.
