it's been driving me nuts for a while now and no one i ask seems to know. there's nothing on it at dictionary.com and i'm beginning to think that maybe i made it up and there never was an opposite. though it would support my suspicion that i'm goin crazy...please help!

First link on google.com.

The opposite is diurnal `happening by day, coming out during the day, occurring every day'. Animals which come out at twilight are called crepuscular.

I was thinking diurnal, but I only really know it as an astronomical term, but other posts would seem to confirm that.
