I need advise

I have the remaining guts from an upgrade and want to put them back in service, but with my television as the monitor.

I need a video card with good TV output. It doesn't really need to do much else. I don't need HDTV capability and must use an AGP card. (price point not set, but I want to do this on the cheap (but will put in more $$ if necessary to get good TV output)

I have no chipset preference at this time (ATI or NVidia is fine)

TIA

ATI has better TV out as a rule & if gaming doesn't matter you should be able to snag an older AIW card pretty cheap which would do a very good job & run quietly.

What kind of inputs does your TV have?

If it has component input, you'll probably want to use that.
The jump from composite to s-video is pretty dramatic and then there's some minor quality differences from s-video to component, but if you have that option might as well go for it.

thanks

So far I know ATI makes cards that have TV out, and component input would be best on the TV...

What I am really looking for is recommendations on a card for my computer that has TV output and.. well read OP

my TV has S-Video and composite... composite would be fine for my needs

Just wanted to know if you had component input since that's preferred over either other type.

Since s-video can be had with even really cheap cards I'd recommend using that instead of composite.

I don't have any specific recommendations, but it has been my experience that the modern cards I've used (6600gt, 9800pro, 9500pro) have all been quite good at tv-out vs older cards I have used from the geforce2/geforce3 era.

Thanks YoYo

Not too many people actually used their TV outputs (more now that HTPCs are popular)

I'm hoping not to have to do a very modern card (If I did it would probably be a 6600)

Anybody have first hand experience with TV out on cards a couple years old?

how about any of these..... ATI 8500, 9000, 9500....
