Ok, my good computer died one and a half years ago and i've been waiting since for conroe + fair prices. I was planning to build it after the April 22 price cuts but now it seems theres heavy price cuts for quad core in Q3. My question is, should i just go for it or wait for the quad core? FYI i've been on a 700mhz celeron with integrated graphics and can only play Starcraft. (im really hoping you can convince me for the april 22 :p)

Going from a 700MHz Celeron to Quad core will be a massive jump for you! Why not wait until the Q3 price cuts? you could easily grab a Q6600 for less than $300, or go for cheaper C2D. Since you've waited that long, doesn't hurt to wait a lil bit longer...lol

A new, improved processor comes out almost every quarter. If you want the latest and greatest, you will be waiting forever for that price drop you are referring to. C2D is revolutionary. The price was so very reasonable when it was first introduced. Ask AMD.

the only reason i dont want to wait till q3 is because it will be in the middle of summer :S but the price cut is unbelievable

Summer is the best time right now, hands down. The technology jump and price cuts are just too good to pass up. A lot of people are also going to be selling off their current setups to make the leap, so you'll have a ton of options going on for you.

I'm saving up money to upgrade my main rig by Winter of this year, and put the rest into my girlfriend's spare gaming rig when possible.
