I don't see any major need to upgrade, the only things you might want to consider:

1) RAM - 2GB is nice nowadays. Plenty of 2GB kits for @$200, with the resale from your old RAM you might pocket some cash.

2) GPU - 7900 is fine for now. Maybe save up and turn that $170 into $300 and pick up a new card in 2-3 months when the rest of the G80s and R600 are released.

3) Storage - if what you have is enough, no reason to get more but lots of large 16MB cache drives on sale now.

I would definitely swap out the 2X512 sticks for 2X1gb sticks. That should be your biggest overall improvement.

These: $215 - Patriot eXtreme Performance 2GB (2x1GB) DDR2-800 PDC22G6400LLK ($50MIR)

DDR2-1000? so 500Mhz FSB * 8 = 4.0Ghz? Good luck! I'm guessing you'll need to drop that multiplier down to 7, for a 3.5Ghz OC.

I'd also suggest you sell your old ram and pickup a nice SATA HDD, like the Seagate 7200.10 320GB or WD3200KS.

Agreed.

I swapped my OS HD for a raptor this time last year. Love it!

What do you use the computer for? Also, what OS are you using? If Vista I would definitely go with 2gig of Ram. Otherwise, a raptor and an $80 320gig hd would do wonders

Personally, I would save it to buy a nice 22 or 24 LCD.

I hate to push the issue but even with a Vista or XP, a raptor will make a significant improvement over a 40GB or 80GB hdd. Remember paging is still done through the hdd although Vista has capability to use external flash drive. But load times and overall performance can be realized with a faster hdd.

My Raptor gets 78MB/s, 150GB
My Seagate 7200.10 gets 65MB/s, 320GB

I'd go fo rthe Seagate instead (I've got 3 of them now, lol).

not knowing what you do with your computer, it's a toss between memory and HDD. Given the sizes you mentioned, your HDDs are OLD and SLOW. And given that the latest reports about HDD life mean that your old HDDs may die soon... I say HDD.
