I have a nice house that I want to rent out as a vacation house during the Super Bowl which will be held in my area. It's a gated community with a golf course. I'm looking for advice from anyone who has experience in this? What sort of price range should I be looking to ask? How far in advance should I take reservations?

I saw this sh!t on craigslist for like 15,000 for a whole week.. I was just like, are you fucking kidding me?!?! Who cares if your house is close to the stadium? No house is worth THAT much for a rental.

If I can question this, when did this actually become a trend?

Why would someone even pay that amount of money just for a house, the homes listed aren't even close to the stadium, or anything of that sort.

Wouldn't it be financially easier to just host in a small apartment or your own house on the game day and just have a few good friends over?

My dad has a big screen TV in our house.. He basically just invites a few people over, they play billiards, sit on the couch/chairs we provide, drink and watch the game. We provide the snacks. So what's the big deal about renting a house? Doesn't seem worth it at all.

Within the last couple years. I think it started with the house swap, where you'd trade houses for x weeks so someone from another country could visit somewhere else. Think U.S. visiting Europe, and vice-versa.

As for why anyone would pay for a house not too close to the stadium, it's better than not being there at all. People from England might have tickets for a game in the U.S. and have enough cash to rent out a spot close enough to the stadium.

I understand a situation such as this, however what I don't understand is a house that is nowhere near the stadium that the super bowl is to be held in. I mean, like 90+% of the houses are a state or more away, and that's being more than fair on the percentages I'm sure.

There are houses here that go for that much PER NIGHT... much less per week.... and they aren't anywhere near the Super Bowl.

How old are you to be making such idiotic statements? Seriously... I'm guessing... 15?

No.. I'm 20, thanks for trying though.

But in all honestly, who has an IQ low enough to spend that much a week, much less that much a NIGHT?! That is absolutely ridiculous. You could spend that much on a car, on a down payment for anything else...

Go ahead an judge me but the real idiot is the one thinking that any deal of that sort is actually reasonable.

I'm sure you can understand my confusion on that issue... (your age)

IQ has nothing to do with it. When you can afford anything... why settle? Why stay in some hotel when you can rent a 5000' beach-front mansion complete with Mercedes and butler?

Anybody paying $15k/night already has a 'car' (probably a plane too) and doesn't worry about making down payments on anything. The limit on their visa card is more than you'll ever make in your life.

There's no deal involved. And 'reasonable' is a matter of perspective. These people aren't on Expedia looking for cheap airfare. You need to grow up a bit where your perspective on money is concerned.

Excuse me, but if these rich ass people have so much fucking money, why don't they just BUY the fucking house, I mean for fucking christ's sake.. they're putting a good little down payment on the house itself.

The house I was looking at did not include such things as a car, or a butler, it was regular little house. I mean my parent's house in Idaho had probably more square footage and was probably just as far away from the super bowl as this one was.

I don't care what your perspective on money, you can go ahead an call me an idiot, go ahead and think my statements are idiotic whatever.. be my guest. But if you can supply me with a reasonable explanation to pay 15 grand for one week of rental (no limo, no butler, just a regular old house) over just BUYING the house (obviously you're rich enough if you have that much money to just drop on a pathetic house for a week), I'll be calling you the idiot. Comprehende?

Uhhh... ok. You're an idiot. I can see you're upset about this.

But my guess is that they don't want to own the house. They just want to live in it for a week. That and the house isn't for sale. BTW... do they still teach the principle of supply and demand in high school? It kinda works like this: If someone didn't want to rent the house for $15k/week (or per day here) then the price would be lower.

Just FYI...

I do have one quesiton though... why does this upset you so? It's not your money. You're not paying the bill. Are you one of these sad little people who get upset that someone has more money than you do?

No sir.

Let me break it down for you.

If you haven't quite grasped it yet, I do get the concept of supply and demand. In fact, it was my dad that taught me something is worth what some (idiot) would pay for it.

Therefore, (in my views) I can justify myself as not an idiot, because, not even if I was William Gates himself, would I ever waste 15 grand on a pathetic little house for a week's worth of rental. I'd much rather give the money to a charity of some sort rather than watch a sport, rent a house to throw parties, a non-stop party, or anything of that sort. If I was to spend that money, I would either not do it, or just buy it if I was to invest 15 grand in it.

In addition, I'm not sad that I don't have an abundance of money. I am pretty well off and I acknowledge the fact that I am so lucky to have a good supporting family and I'm better off than quite a few people.

I'll be honest with you. I do realize this is the "real world" and that I've learned that hardly anyone in the industry can honestly do their job. I've learned that almost everyone in their "profession" is completely incompetent.

What pisses me off how idiotic people are. (in my views)

Your view of stupidity may be completely different than mine. I acknowledge this, but I'm simply sharing my views.

Yes. Because I said I know EVERYTHING. Dumbshit.
Let's go ahead and find out a little bit about you.
What do you do for a living? How much do you make? Where do you spend your money?
What would you do with 15 grand?

 You wish...

I live on Maui. I haven't made a dime in almost a year and I'm still smiling. Right now I'm in the process of trying to buy a 10 unit apartment building. You'll call BS but whatever.

As for you claiming to know everything... reread what you wrote. ;)

I saw this sh!t on craigslist for like 15,000 for a whole week.. I was just like, are you fucking kidding me?!?! Who cares if your house is close to the stadium? No house is worth THAT much for a rental.

I'd much rather give the money to a charity of some sort rather than watch a sport.

I've learned that almost everyone in the "profession" is completely incompetent.

What pisses me off how idiotic people are. (in my views)

Your view of stupidity may be completely different than mine. I acknowledge this, but I'm simply sharing my views.

Wow... another 20 year old who knows everything...
Everyone ELSE is stupid and lazy...
You're the only one who does their job right...
If you had a gazillion dollars you'd give it all to charity rather than enjoy some of it...

I edited what I wrote.. I want to be fair. Sorry for any outrage.

Let's call it even, we both have different experiences and different views. I don't want to make any enemies here.

I'm working on anger management lol.. sorry, I do have anger management issues and I get angry at some things I shouldn't. I never said I know everything though, I understand I'm young and have a lot to learn.

Just some things in the world I know I will never understand.

there are houses on the NJ shore that go for $6,000.00 + for 1 week. and that is just the shore.

i'd imagine that demand for a house very close to super bowl would be higher. higher demand = higher money.

simple.
