I need advice on home security cameras

Hi all,

I'm trying to find a good place to buy home security cameras, preferably somewhere local (i.e which electronics stores usually carry them?)

I also need advice as to which options are available and which would be preferred,

I've read about DVR based systems and also computer based systems, but what I'm looking for is something that I can avoid using video tapes and use hard disks instead, also something that will take input from multiple cameras.
