I have a 6800 OC and nvidia's drivers lack vista support and playing madden is a nightmare with their drivers as of this post.
the game freezes when you try and kick, only way to get it to work halfway is to use old nvidia drivers for XP which causes issues elsewhere.
If I went to ATI which seems the logical choice the agp 1950?
or what is similar to the 6800 with ATI cards and price wise.

For AGP your gonna have to go with either a 1650pro or the 1950. The former is around 6800gt speeds, some faster some slower in benchmarks, but the 1950pro will blow those out of the water

BTW my system specs are
A 64 3700
GA-k8u-939
2 gigs of ram

would the 1950 be bottlenecked ? I really am liking the price for this card on newegg.

X1950 Pro sounds like a good match for your system

would this card run the same as my 6800? I am looking to move away from nvidia as their drivers for vista are not working for me and neither are my games. not meaning to flame nvidia either/

does the ddr3 matter? as opposed to a similar card with only ddr2?
also the ddr3 card only has 256 megs and most ddr2 ones have 512 does that make a difference as well?
thanks for the help.

unfortunately I dont want to spend 200 or so, I just want to get this pc to next Xmas before I do a build a new system.

I was debating the 1950 for 2 weeks now and just want a good alternative to the 6800 for now.

you might be able to get a X850 cheap on ebay maybe...it should be faster than your current 6800

I'm not sure about US prices but if it's in your price range then go for it...I have a Sapphire X1950pro AGP and it's awesome....but now I need a new monitor...my old 17in CRT doesn't do the Sapphire any justices.

just make sure you have a decent PSU with more than 30a on a daul 12v rail or 20a on a single, X1950pro's are power hungry beasts
