I need a video card!

I haven't purchased a video card since picking up a Radeon 8500 LE years ago.

I currently have a Dell 9100 w/ a x300 128mb crap-tastic card. It needs a severe upgrade.

I will be doing two things with this computer: 1) Using it for Home Studio Recording work and 2) Playing WoW.

I'd like to run WoW on the 2405's native setting, 1920 x 1200.

I'd like to keep the price paid as low as possible, since, I'm not a big PC gamer. I, for whatever god foresaken reason, got suckered into playing World of Warcraft and can't get away from it.

I was looking @ the ATI x800 GTO2 before it vanished.

I'm also looking at this: NEWEGG May or may not have 16 pipelines.

X800xl?
X800Pro?
6800GT?

It's a PCI-E interface.

Thanks in advance!

I'd just get a x800 Pro refurb from ATi and be over with it.

Also note, a x850XTPE is $440... so that's your call.

Edit// btw, a x800pro should do fine if you play WoW... I don't think that game is all that graphic intensive (I haven't played it myself, but I don't see why it would be)

Yeah, it's just under $200 after shipping.

Slight bummer with living in Alaska...shipping is always high.

Like I said, the last card I bought was a Radeon 8500 LE, so I'm a little "lost" on what's out there that gives the "best bang for the buck".

I think $250 is my limit.

That's what I linked to in my original post...and is really what I would like to check out...price is perfect...but I don't know if 128mb is "enough"...

I'm dumb. :D

Didn't really read the thread did ya?

Yes, I did.

Thanks for crapping help.

I'd like to keep the price paid as low as possible, since, I'm not a big PC gamer.

Last time I checked, a 7800GT was a high $300, low $400 card correct?

Call me crazy, but I think that would be called a higher-priced video card.

If you want to play WOW @ 1920x1200, you need a good card.

7800GT can be had for $315

I play all my games at 1920x1200 on a geforce 6800GT @t Ultra Speeds

a X800Pro would be fine ....your looking at lots of memory speed when running at high rez and like the 6800GT the X800Pro has also got 256mb's of ram running on a 256bit bus at 1000Mhz+

I dont think a 6800 with 128mb's of 700Mhz memory would cut it for 1920x1200 unless you put settings to low !

Not 100% sure how a 128mb 1000MHz 6800 would run better to be safe and stick with 256mb's

I'd stick to one of the 256MB cards, such as the X800 Pro or XL. The X800GTO2 would be perfect if you could find it!

I would stay away from the 6800 128MB; if you could find a 6600GT in that price range then go for it!
