I need a universal remote control

I think I need a new remote. I currently have one for the DVR/cable box (allegedly universal), another for the Philips DVD player, and yet another just to control the various functions of my off-brand TV (ASTAR).

I can?t find ?codes? (none listed with the DVR universal remote?s limited documentation) for the other two items. I won't even dare try to control the receiver or cd-changer.

Is there a CHEAP universal learning remote that can control all three devices fully?

Would one of the Logitech Harmony remotes be my best bet? My wife is ready to return the LCD because she doesn?t want all the remotes.

didn't you JUST buy that tv liek 2 days ago?

Harmony remotes meet the criteria of controllilng all the devices. They don't meet the cheap requirement.

I have a Logitech 880 and it's worth every penny. Setup was a breeze. no codes to punch in. The coolest feature is the activities feature. If you want to watch a movie for example...you can program it to switch the TV to the correct video input, set the audio receiver to the right audio input and you can even program it to pop open the disc tray. It's also smart enough to know if the components are on or off so it won't accidentally turn off the TV when switching from the "Watch TV" activity to the "Watch Movie" activity.
Seriously, if my mother in-law can figure out how to use it when she comes over to babysit, anyone can use it.

Get the 880. the nice thing about it is that all your settings are saved on-line. if for some reason the remote loses its settings, just plug that puppy into a usb port, log in to the website, and reload.

I'm telling you, it's worth every penny. The only thing you'll regret is that you you didn't get it sooner. I have a couple of friends who have them as well. One freind has it controlling their ceiling fan.
