I need a tutorial on win98 ip addressing

Basically I set up dsl for people and half the time they'd be on win98/2000 machines that don't recognize the ip addresses and gateway. Are there any tutorials out there that would explain the network connections setup for those old windows systems?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Does your network use DHCP or Static IPs? If the DHCP server frequently cuts out it might be worth your while to setup the IP, gateway, DNS and be done with it.

Usually for those old windows systems it's just dynamic dhcp accounts using a 2Wire or a speedstream. Those with static usually know how to set those up. Basically I just wanted to help those folks that can't get that IT guy to come over after my install.

Also, would releasing and renewing the IP addresses help to achieve that connection it needs to connect to a browser?
