Geodesic domes?

Or pre-/post-tensioned concrete and its applications... Also, Argonne's developed something they call Ceramicrete, might wanna look into that.

Also, check into different reinforcing materials, i.e. rolled carbon fiber or Hy-Bor as rebars

Is green construction going to be the same as the use of natural materials as a viable alternative to conventional construction? Guys still put up those haybale houses, real adobe houses, and yeah igloos :p

If you are into computers, maybe a paper on wiring buildings....current wiring, wireless, fiber optic etc. for the growing technological needs of companies and individuals.

Fire suppression systems.

Specific designs of buildings for security features.

Public/private building needs for compliance with the ADA, and the general aging of the baby boomers.

Maybe the integration of computers into the physical needs of the building, HVAC, lighting, security etc.

Design of public and government buildings to naturally thwart terrorist attacks.
