Well I'm a 17 year old about to become a high school junior, and I need a job this summer. Which places have you come to like/hate? What places pay well and have good little goodies like discounts and what not? Any advice would be appreciated.:)

C'mon anyone got anything useful to say. I've considered BB as crazyfool said, but hell no, screw McDonalds. Anything else?

Golf course.

I get free golf at 5 courses because of it, a good deal imo, especially for a golfer.

seriously fast food and retail are your best bets. and since you're 17-year old, there are lots more people older and more experienced than you competing for these bestbuy circuit city jobs. my old roomate in college wanted a job in circuit city (which is part time during the year) was turned down. don't even think that the store managers want to hire seasonal people... it only means training the guy for a month then have him quit the next month.

seriously and no offense, aim low and just get whatever you can find.

Ever considered forgoing a typical 9-5 summer job for a volunteer/unpaid position?
It will look stronger on your college apps, resume, and can give you more useful experience.

Dont get in to food services. I had one and I hated it. I would much rather do something like Barnes & Nobles or BestBuy

Bingo. I am a starter at a golf course and the job is easy and the pay isn't bad, especially when you consider the free golf....:)

I'd say lawn crew, since it would help you get buff, work on your tan, and thoroughly convince you to go to and stay in college, but in your area that job is probably already picked pretty clean by the .. uh ... southern neighbors.

LOL

I think sniperruff hit it best with the cold facts. I guess I really have to aim low, but I'd rather work somewhere like Robek's as opposed to fast food because everyone I know who is working the McDonald's type job hates it.

Book Store-Great Job. My bro worked at BN and said it was good. Best Buy is pretty decent too for a few months. Try local places since they won't hassle you as much since they're not some huge corporation with BS rules.
