I need a story to tell

I've got a STOOPID end of the semester assignment I have to take care of, and I need a bit of help.

I have to find a story, legend, or myth. (like Aseops fables) and rewrite it to modernize the story a bit. I'm a pretty good writer, but I always have trouble starting.

Do you guys know of a good story I can retell? Like cool or funny stories. I really don't want to rehash a common story (like tortise and the hare).

This is a good place to come for inspiration. I had to write a story from fiction class and I got my idea from the forums. Even used a few of the screen names from here to add a touch of... well, a touch of something. But it was fiction through and through, because if I turned in something with as many references to oral sex as you guys have here, woulda brought my grade down a LOT. So hope you find your story here, like I did.

the king solomon one was cool. going with the bible theme you could do david and goliath, goliath being a genetically engineered superhuman or something along those lines.

also im a huge fan of the japanese folk tale momotaro. shouldnt be too hard to play with that one either.
