Hmm let me recall..."I like them boys up top from the BK". Isn't that it? I'm pretty sure it stands for Brooklyn, NY.

Up top would make more sense for NY then Berkeley, CA

Like saying "Em pee aych," instead of "miles per hour," when it is the same number of syllables.

(OTOH, I'm listening to Alice in Chains right now, so am in a very different demographic than that crap is meant for)
