I don't know if you'd call it a sniffer, but I need an app that lets me monitor my incoming & outgoing network traffic. And gives me a result I can read. So if I surf to www.msn.com and submit a form, I want to see what's being sent exactly. Or if a hacker is connected to my machine through some backdoor, I'd like to monitor that connection and see what's going on.
