I purchased a Gainward GF2Pro/450 video card. When I got it, I put it into an old (AMD K6III/450 with an Asus mobo). When I hit the power switch, I got the DOA beeps...........one long beep, and three short beeps. The fan on the video card was working.
I thought that the problem may be with the "old" motherboard. Since the video card is an AGP 2X, 4X, I thought if the mobo was only a 1X AGP, that might be the reason for the beeps, that the video card was OK, but just would not work with this old mobo.
I just put this same video card into a brand new setup, and the system would not post. The fan on the video card worked, but nothing showed on the monitor. I did a minimum setup out of the case, reset the cmos, rearranged the memory, etc. etc. etc.
Question: Could this video card be bad and yet the fan work?
Thanks in advance for an answer to this question.
