I need a SILENT 80mm fan..

..for my heatsink because the stock one has a blade that's screwed up. What is THE quietest 80mm fan that is reasonably priced..as in under $20.
 
Just bear in mind that with 80mm fans, quiet means it doesn't move a lot of air.
 
My system is VERY loud and it starting to bug me. I'm not sure what it is. At first I thought it was the tiny 72mm fan I have on the heatsink replacing the one that broke, but now I'm starting to think it may be my 7800GT..
 
Panaflo L1A's are very nice and quiet....but they are not SILENT. As it was pointed out a silent 80mm fan isn't going to move much air.
 
Yes, I know. Let me rephrase my statement..I need a new 80mm fan for my heatsink. So it needs to move enough air, but quietness is key.
 
its tough with 80mm fans. If you can upgrade to a heatsink that accepts 92mm fans. The 92mm nexus fan is one of the quietests fans I have heard.

(besides the broken panaflo over here :evil: )
 
Although there are newer fans with "better" specs, I still prefer using PC Power & Cooling Silencer Fans. I've been using them for the last 5 years and they are quiet and extremely reliable.
 
Nexus is hands down the best manf for a slient 80mm fan. As far as 80mm fans go, the Panaflo 12L/L1A is perhaps one of the best out there, but slightly louder (pushes a lot more air than the nexus though). The nexus can be kind of pricey.

For HS/F, i would highly recommend the Scythe Ninja, or XP-90. The Thermalright HR-01 and XP-120 are both a little too expensive. The Scyte usually runs around $38, and the XP-90 is around $24 IIRC at SVC.com.

Zalman only sells HS+F combos. Right now they are all kind of overpriced for what you get. The 9500 really doesn't cool much better than Thermalright and Scythes offerings, yet it costs up to $30 more. The 7000 and 7700 series are somewhat outdated, and still pricey for what you get.

At SVC, Pan 92x25M-BX, 48cfm@30dBA, $4.

The BX at the end of the part# indicates a sensor/tach feed wire=true three wire fan.
Even if you OC, you should not need more than 48cfm on a XP-90.
Having used several 92mm fans this Pan is second only to a Delta Triple Blade 92x38,57cfm.

Yuck. Nexus, is far superior for what you get.

Galvanized, next time i order something, i gotta get one of these Delta triple blade fans. They sound real good (How do they compare to Nexus?).

Look at their spec http://www.sidewindercomputers.com/ or http://www.epowerhousepc.com/

The DTB in 92x25 is 40cfm@29.5dBD they all have a sensor/tach wire. None are cheap. Vibration is nill, they do not click when undervolted, the have high quality ball bearings=long lived quiet.

No one has reported back yet in C&C but check out the Akasa fans at sidewinder.

For an insane 92x32 thermally controlled NMB look at this unit while at sidewinder. By jumping the thermistor it can be undervolted to 3.5V, just as the DTBs can.
This NMB is a $100 Dell fan for $5. I bought two, as of yet I have not installed a long lead thermistor on one.

A good but cheap 92x25 NIDEC can be had at BGMicro.com. It's ball bearing with a tach wire. It needs controll as it draws .29A but it only costs $3. Guesstimate cfm @ 60.

what u need is a quiet case. that case is not built for noise control, its built to be cheap and easy to use and cool..semi obsolete to boot really with the insane number of 80/92mm fans. get a p150-180 or something. otherwise its gonna be a lotta money spent on fans for little gain.

The case was chosen because of superb airflow and it's nice and big and easy to work in...and because I got it along with the 500W Antec SP PSU from a friend for $75. I LOVE the P180, but I simply don't have the money.
