I need a really cheap laptop...

I'm teh type that needs to go to the library to study or i slack off...but all my classes have stuff online that I need and its too much to print out. So I need a laptop for only wireless internet and a decent amount of battery life...whats teh cheapest good one out there? Cause I cant afford one now, so I'll have to ask my parents, so I dont wanna make it too expensive. thanks guys

Don't know which lappy that was... You should look for a good condition lappy on eBay, it may be a couple years old, but if you find one capable of running Linux and Firefox it will be a power horse and cheap.... That should suffice with your requirements.

You could probably get away with an old P3 laptop for what you need it to do.

EDIT: Try here. They have some refurb IBMs that shouldn't be too bad and are in the $300 range. I use an old Acer P3 500 (Win2K & 192MB RAM) laptop around the house to surf and email wirelessly when I don't feel like sitting at my desk (and using my desktops) and it's more than adequate.

An old "snow" iBook would work nicely. For about 300$ or so, you can obtain one with a G3 at about 700 mhz, enough to run basic apps quite well. My 800mhz iBook G3 could get over four hours of battery life; they're really quite nice laptops. (A few had bad logic boards, but any of the bad parts would have fried by now anyway.)

Well, at 350$ it's a shade above 300$, but a great deal nonetheless.

Check this guy's other auctions; he's selling the iBook G3 800mhz (a rather nice machine, I used to own one myself) for 350$. It even appears to include some sort of warranty. And his feedback, at 99.9% positive and over 1500 auctions, is hard to beat. I think I may have bought something from him myself at some point.
The big downside? If you want Wi-Fi, you'll have to shell out at least 90$ or so to get the now discontinued Apple AirPort card. Asus does make a rather obscure but well-rated USB adapter that works with 10.3 and above; it retails for about 40$. (However, the USB ports are USB1.1, so it might slow down the connection a bit.)
