So... as the title clearly states, I need a part time job...

Any places ATOT would suggest? Or better yet, places to absolutely stay away from.

I am think something like Best Buy or maybe one of the movie rental places. Hell I would even be up for Lowe's or maybe even working with someone like the red cross or another group like that. Anyone?

I worked at a blockbuster part time and would advise against it. Working part time at a retail clothing outlet now and enjoy it much more.

The only one I am even considering is Starbucks... I have a second cousin who worked part time in a Starbucks while he worked on his master's degree... apparently they give parttimers full benefits.

If I had my choice and were in need of a part time job, I would work at Home Depot or Lowes. Garden dept. would be awesome. So I like gardening, big whoop wanna fight about it?!?

best buy can be the best place or the worst place, all depends on the management. But when it is done right, its a blast.

clothing stores are terrible IMO, unless you enjoy mindlessly folding clothes for hours.

All bestbuys suck a$$ IMO. Of course I have never been to a "good" one if such a mythical place exists.

Lowes or Home depot are good places to work.

Sears is also a nice place and even better if you can get some sales experience going on. I worked there part time for a while on weekends selling appliances and made a killing. Varies by department though so be careful.

honeslty, it depends on the store. Find someone you know who works there. I worked there for 13 months, about .5 was awesome, the other was terrible.

I have friends at home depot type places and they hate it. Believe me, being a cashier ANYWHERE is a terrible job no matter what anyone says. Do somthing where you can actually move around and think a little bit.

I worked at a Menards (similar to Home Depot or Lowes) when I was a teenager and quit after one day. I worked in the receiving dept, which was constantly being harassed by the other departments, customers, etc. Not at all worth $8.50 an hour. They probably aren't all like that, but it was not a friendly environment.

If I could work 10 hour a week just pushing carts at a grocery store I'd do it for the exercise and the lack of customer hassling. Plus the tiny bit of extra income.

Yep, being a cashier sucks. I work at a grocery store as a checker, its blows. People always complaining at you about this and that. If you give them even the slightest reason to think you were being a smart ass they complain to management.

I would like to work at lowes or home depot. The pay is good and I hear they do benefits and such. I might try to get a job there after the summer.

Looking back, I miss working retail jobs. I like interacting with customers and helping them out. If I didnt have a girlfriend to occupy all of my free time, I'd probably get a part time job at Home Depot. I do the normal office thing monday through friday and then maybe work Saturday mornings at Home Depot.

One of the best part time jobs I ever had was working for the Boys and Girls Club. I used to pick up the kids from school in a van and return them to the Club. I'd play games with them, help them with school work and, referee competitions. It was a lot of fun and never felt like work!

Clothing might not be too bad. I did reception/clerical for my last year of highschool and half of college. Some of the worst times I've ever had. Only thing that made it passable or that even kept me going back was the people. Otherwise, I couldn't wait to finish my day.

Most retail jobs are absolute crap, but some worse than others. Namely, Home Depot, Ikea, supermarket style places where most people are either mindless cashiers or stock boys. Was just at Ikea yesterday and the people working and on breaks looked like they wanted to step infront of the next slow moving car... A small number get to help customers pick stuff out or do something that's challenging. Then again, take it for what it is: a low paying, 'side' money, low skill job. Remember that going in, and you'll probably be satisfied.
