I need a Northbridge active HSF for my MSI K8n Neo

Hi guys,
I need a little guidance on this. Ive emailed MSI and havent heard from them yet. I need to cool my chipset a little better than what the stock passive heatsink can provide. I notice that my video card capacitors are fairly close to this heatsink so I need to know what will fit here. If I cant get a active HSF solution, what would be the next best thing?
Thanks

your'e in real trouble. that was THE single reason stopping me from buying that board.

the olny thing i can recommend although i never bought it is to look at the vantec iceberg copper cooler but carry out a little experiment .
If i were in your position, and i didnt want to buy the vantec just to try, i would get the dimentions of it on their website and make a card board model to the exact dimensions if it and see how it lines up.

If this helps I pulled out an Iceberg Copper I have and it measures 2" in diameter and 1/2" tall. The holes to mount it to the mobo measure 2-2 1/2" apart, giving you a little leway for the mounting holes.

🙂

It fits. Most 250 boards have the same location more or less (asus board is even closer). I have the iceburg on my computer droped my temps about 7-10 degrees from stock cooler too. I'm using a 6800GT with stock cooler.

Sweet,
I havent measured yet but I'll check out that asus board and compare it with my board. Im guessing your card might be a little bigger than mine so thats good. Thanks for the info

If you get a larger heatsink, and one with a fan on it, be warned a 6800 series card might not fit. Mine didnt. Had to cut off two fins from the heatsink.
