I need a NEW web host

I presently use total choice hosting. They reconfigure servers and it truly takes them 4-6+ days to get them running properly again. I have their $5/month service and yes I learned my lesson--I'm getting $5 worth of support.

There bandwidth and server space are adequate at $5/month but their knowledge/service is poor.

Tonight is the second time I have had to explain to them, step by little step, how to install ImageMagick, Ghostscripts and Ghostscript fonts....

It would be great if the host was familiar with vBulletin installations.

Any recommendations?

also check out dixiesys. they have been solid for me. I have a much smaller and EXTREMELY-low volume account with them and am thorougly satisfied. They use directadmin while telnap uses cpanel.

I have an account with DeviousTrap. I'm looking for a paid service where I can complain to someone when they're not up to par.

Dixiesys's support sucks. It takes them days to return phone calls and e-mails.

I've had all my issues taken care of within 24 hours...and I'm on the el-cheapo $3.95/month plan...

dreamhost, they seem pretty good to me. they have 7 dollar a year sales every now and then, lemme know if you want a coupon to save some cash, not looking to profit any.

I had a client who had an expiring credit card with auto pay for more than a year. He didn't get notification, and they suspended his account. It took 3 days to get it back online.

I think you're confusing the free hosting that I offer and the webhosting company that I run. The recommendations are for telnap.com, not the free offer.

I host 10 accounts using Daily Razor. Switched to them about 3 months ago. So far so good. Email support has been quick and their tech staff seems knowledgeable.

I'm not looking for the lowest price. I'm looking for the best service who has been around for awhile. I've heard too many horror stories of hosts going belly-up. I don't want to be afraid of my host going out of business that I end up needing to back-up my site several times a day.

Repeat after me, you get what you pay for.

If you're going to stay in the $5/mo range you can continue to expect shoddy service. Move up to $10-15/mo for a shared hosting account or $30/mo and you get into more reliable premium web hosting.

That link is just offers. I'm looking for feedback.

It sure would be nice if WHT had a web host forum where you can SEARCH for feedback and read reviews

I've posted on WHT tons but the info/replies there are mostly stuff like: they suck, ripped me off, awesome!, or Cool host.

Don't get me wrong I love cool but I'd like some better feedback than that.

At least some of the ATOT posts are more in depth.

But I think we all know that the best hosts are the ones not mentioned. No one wants to divulge a great host and have to share their bandwidth....

I've had excellent service from AussieBob over at Dotable.com. Dotable is a relatively new venture, but Bob well known for his better known (former) business, HTTPme.
