My Seiko Chronograph finally died. I figured it was just the battery, but replacing it did nothing. Oh well.

It's time for a new watch anyway. Any good watches out there for less than $100?

There is plenty of perfectly good watches for under $100. Just head to any sports store and you'll find a bevy of perfectly good sports watches that will last you years.

Well, I know nothing about watches. Are there brands to avoid? I work in a shirt/tie environment, so digital and/or sporty watches won't really work for me.

I have this for everyday wear. It's a little over $100, but I really like it and especially the fact that it never needs batteries. While I'm sure that someone who is really into watches would know it was a Timex, so far I have only ever gotten compliments on it.

It won't work as a dress watch, but for that I have my grandfather's Longines or my Waltham pocketwatch. As an everyday watch, the Timex looks good, works well, and stands up solidly to abuse.

One of the Fossil all-stainless models. Nice & heavy, very comfortable on the wrist.

I wore one for about five years before my ex gave me a Tag.

Well, I'm at work and really can't spend much time on here to layout what I like. :p

Basically steel watch, analog, looks nice with a shirt and tie (work attire) but doesn't look out of place with jeans and a t-shirt.

Edit: BTW, I like that Timex, Zenmervolt!

I have a Skagen, it was $200 but they have some $100 watches as well.

At $100 you can get a nice Kenneth Cole NY watch. Looks really classy, perhaps a bit more professional than a Fossil. But really at this price point theres no signficant difference between the brands.

I've gotten quite a few compliments on it. Only draw back is that it doesnt have a second hand so I have another cheapo watch when I need a second hand
