The passenger side mirror on my '97 Civic broke off unfortunately, but I won't go into the details of how that happened. Now there's just this little box hanging out with wires attached to it. Should I get an OEM mirror from a junkyard or should I just get something else from Advance Auto Parts? They have K-Source, CIPA, and Dorman. Does it matter which one I get?

Thanks.

Call the Junkyard.....there are plenty of Civics out there. It will be OEM and probably cheaper.

Go to the junkyard you will spend at most 20 for one if you go to a you-pull-it place. Otherwise if you go to the dealer you end up spending 400 for one.

Heh, I need one too for my Altima. I hit a deer and she took off my drivers side mirror + dented a panel some. Now the door doesn't open all the way (weak). Anyways, does anyone have any tips for replacing a mirror? Do I have to take off the interior panel or just undo the screws on the bottom? How hard is this wiring going to be? Any suggestions on this?

There normally is an interior triangular panel on the interior right behind where the mirror is mounted on the outside. If you pull that off (should be no screws) you should see screws underneath it.

Just becareful....it is held together by 3 plastic stubs. They can break easily if you are not careful.
