I need a new power supply

Nocturnal

I'm certain I need a new PSU.

I currently have the Antec PSU 430W that came with my case. I have a Plextor DVD-RW, a 74 GB Raptor, ASUS A7N8X Deluxe mobo with a 2500+ Barton and 1GB of Crucial ram.

However two Maxtor hdds give me this clicking noise when I try to run them. I have a feeling its my PSU.

I want something with 500W. What would be good for my system as well for future upgrades (planning on an A8N real soon)?

Don't assume it's your psu giving you the issue with the maxtor drives. It really could be that the drives are POS... I've run more than you on a 380W Antec TruePower PSU before without any issue... Also see what I have powering my system in my sig... All THAT on an Antec 480W NeoPower PSU without any issue at all.

I just got a Fortron Blue Storm (i think that's wat it is) 500 w for about $85 on newegg. The 12v rail seems low (11.71) right now, but i'm sure it's something that will get worked out.

I cant hear it at all and it has a nice 120mm fan on the bottom of it.

I don't think its your PSU. I have and antec true power 330 watt and ive got 2 maxtor HD's also, its all running fine. I had three HD's in my system at one point when i was testing one and it ran fine like that also. Its probably the hard drive, not the PSU.
